Luxury Hotels Tapping Celebrity Fitness Trainers

Celebrity US yoga instructor Tara Stiles is the latest fitness guru to collaborate with a luxury hotel chain in the ongoing demand for health and wellness programs.
Stiles, popular in the US for her unorthodox, high-movement yoga class Strala, has been tapped by W Hotels to create exclusive workouts that will be available systemwide as in-room tip cards and videos in suites around the world.
To develop the hotel-specific program, Stiles locked herself in the rooms of several W Hotels to step into the shoes -- or bare feet -- of hotel guests.
The end result is four yoga regimes to boost energy, ease jet lag, get ready for a night out or for recovery.
To promote the new program, W's newest fitness ambassador has also hit the streets enclosed in an all-glass, mobile truck, striking yoga poses around New York City.
Stiles will also lead yoga retreats at select properties around the world this year, including the W Verbier in Switzerland, the W Vieques in Puerto Rico, W Bali-Seminyak, and the W Maldives.
Packages will be customized for their destinations and include daily sessions with Stiles, individual fitness consultations and personalized workout regimes.
Meanwhile, former Canadian wrestling star-turned yoga instructor Trish Stratus will also be opening a pop-up yoga studio at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto this summer for guests and locals alike.
And last year, Westin Hotels hired a running concierge for guests in response to the many runners who travel abroad for marathons, and for their guests who may need a running buddy.
